It's surprising how much you DON'T miss it when it's not on. Our house rule is no tele at all mid week, and only on Fri, Sat and Sun if there is something of specific interest on. Kids adapted to it overnight. It doesn't get questioned anymore and a lot more homework and reading for pleasure gets accomplished instead.

Start Living in Prime Time
by What-A-Coincidence ini thought this was worth sharing.... start living in prime time by denis waitley .
prime time is that period between 6 and 10 p.m. during which most of the general public watches television.
commercials in prime time are the most expensive, approaching a million dollars per minute.

Any Logan's Run fans out there?
by truthsearcher ini just picked up this sci-fi movie from the groovie 70's and watched it.
i remember that it kind of disturbed me when i was a kid.
it was about a closed society that automatically kills everyone at age 30, so they can be replaced by a new baby.

I saw LR in a cinema in Sydney (Au) when I was 8 yrs old. Made a big impression, maybe because I was the child of witness parents and I knew all about the fear of imminent death and the need to escape it.

Vinny, I have come back to your post several times now. I have saved it as a permanent bookmark and intend to cut and paste it into a word doc. so that I can access it offline as well (a few printouts of it may not go amiss either). Thankyou for the effort put in to contstruct the piece...logical, balanced and clearly presented. Would that the Watchtower cover their topics and defend their beliefs so concisely. I guess they cannot, because in order to arrive at the convoluted, contorted interpretations of scripture they peddle, and to evade future emabarrasment and recrimination when they decide to change their minds on some formerly incontrovertible edict, it is necessary that they couch all of their statements in language designed to baffle and frustrate the reader. How often I used to read and reread a paragraph on some particular issue (like the generation, or some other pivotal belief) only to remain frustrated and unenlightened at the end of the exercise. They are like something out of a Dickensian novel (Jarndyce vs. Jarndyce springs to mind) when they want to be. Thank you once again Vinny.

Is there a DF cut off point
by fringe dweller indoes anyone know if there is a set time period after which a baptised witness, who has ceased attending meetings or having any association with the congregation, can begin living openly as a non-witness (living with a partner while not married) without incurring the punishment of disfellowhipping?
if so, can you direct me to printed 'proof' of the wts edict in this regard.
i completely withdrew from the society about 6 years ago and have left the town i lived in whilst i was active, but i have family members who are still witnesses and i don't want to risk being formally 'banned' from associating with them on the rare occasions that we see each other.

Hi guys I need proof of a watchtower article, can anybody help?
by needproof inhi, i was just reading e-watchmans website (came across it by accident, wouldn't normally entertain it) and i read that, and quote: "the august 1st, 2004, watchtower magazine carries a typical feature article entitled: "good government, where can it be found?
" the article briefly makes the case for world government and then asserts that world government has already become a reality since 1914 in the form of god's kingdom.
on page four the watchtower appears to be pandering to the sci-fi generation, saying of the tribulation: "an attack from another planet?

I didn't see that particular article but I know from previous experience that they use the term ET to denote spirit creatures in general...whether it be God, Jesus or the angels...anything not of earthly origin, so I would say that is what was meant. It's an attention grabber I guess.
